April is Donate Life Month and Cottage Hospital would like to raise awareness of the growing need for donors. More than 100,000 Americans are currently in need of an organ transplant and doctors say the waiting list is growing by the hour. A new name is added to the list every eight minutes. 

This year, we held our annual Flag Raising Ceremony in front of our main building. Brandy Helm, our Community Relations Director, welcomed everyone to the event and discussed what it's about. Our special guests, Carrie and Brynn Bogie, shared their experience of Carrie's late husband Nick Bogie. She shared how powerful their decision was and all that she has done with Donate Life New England since. Afterwards Bill Taxter, one of the Cottage Hospital Board Trustees helped raise our Donate Life flag followed by some goodies prepared by our dietary staff!

On National Donate Life Blue & Green Day (Friday April 12th), we encourage everyone  to wear blue and green and to engage in sharing the Donate Life message and promoting the importance of registering as an organ, eye and tissue donor!
