Diabetes is a disease that takes a team approach to manage well.
You, your primary health care provider, a dietitian and a nurse diabetic educator are all important team members.
At Cottage Hospital you can obtain education for self-management of your diabetes and nutrition education.
Bonnie Bromage, RN offers education on blood glucose monitoring. A blood glucose meter is provided with the instruction, if needed. General diabetes self-management education is provided. We can help you better manage your health. Other forms of instruction include insulin administration via syringe or insulin pen. Gestational diabetes education is available for pregnant women.Sue Montague, RD LD provides Medical Nutrition Therapy for management of diabetes. This includes looking at how you currently eat and identifying changes that will help you manage your blood glucose. This may include carbohydrate counting, reading food labels, how to plan meals and eating in different situations.
