The Upcoming Solar Eclipse: How to View it Safely

Posted By Kuba Kubkowski on Apr 03 2024

Good afternoon everyone! With the date for the upcoming Solar Eclipse quickly approaching, we wanted to share some information you and those you know might find helpful when viewing this spectacular event!

Looking directly at the sun, especially during an eclipse, can cause serious and permanent damage to eyesight. Please take some time to explain the risks and importance of safe viewing practices to your children.

Here are some key things to emphasize when talking about eclipse safety:

-Never look directly at the sun: Remind everyone never to look directly at the sun without appropriate eye protection. Even during a partial eclipse, the sun's rays can be harmful to the eyes.

-Use proper eye protection – regular sunglasses are NOT adequate! Ensure your children use only approved solar viewing glasses when observing the eclipse. These glasses are specially designed to filter out harmful ultraviolet and infrared radiation, allowing for safe viewing of the sun.

This will be a busy day in our area so be mindful of traffic increases, plan ahead, and send us some photos if you take any!
